Sizing help!
I found some rims I really love. Centerline Neutron's
They are 19x7.5, +42 offset, I would like to put 235/40/19 on them, will this fit? Since width is only 7.5 will have need to go down to 225?
I want as much tire hieght as possilbe, e.g, if 235/45/19 would fit, I would go that route.
Thanks!

Just Ordered the R-1 Racing Hex-1 Wheels Its a 3 piece wheel, 19x8.5 all around, Here is the delemma wich tires to go with , 245/35/19 or 245/40/19 I would love to go with the 245/40 but I am not sure if it will fit 100% with no rubbing with a full car load, I have the a-spec kit and the car is already dropped an inch, Also what tire is the best on the market for the summer with a tread wear rating thats not horrible,
Thanks

I have the Nitto 555's (235/35/19) and I thing they're great. Their tread wear rating is 300 which is excellent for a high performance tire.

TODD. hey thanks for this info. You dont know how much i been searching for this info. Now all these off-sets are meant so that the rim is perfectly FLUSHED? or will they stick out? thanks

TODD, me again. But i was wondering, these off-sets are meant to be flushed even if i plan to put 19x9 in rear and 19x8(the least, really prefere 19x8.5 or 19x9 on front) But i want something that has a fat lip in the rear, and smaller in front. Just like i seen bimmers and mercedez done it. I guess really becuase they are RWD cars. But i heard it doesnt really matter. I also ordered the Eibach part # 4044.140 Pro-Kit Springs. 1 inch drop. Any suggestions? i dont mind putting tires that are 35's.
thanks again for that great info .

As I've had my almost 2.5 months I report no problems to date. (please gods I'm not
bragging)
I've already put on Falken Torque 5's (17") with the Falken ZIEX tires and the OEM wheels and (improved) 42's in the basement. Now I want to chrome the OEM wheels and possibly trade in my new BS 42's for either another set of Falkens or another
tire for winter/summer use.
I have seen a swap deal for chrome OEM's on e-bay for $550 + shipping. Is this reasonable?
Not many chrome shops around any more due to EPA regs. I'd like to get it done locally so will check with Discount Tire where they treated me very well.
Opinions on what tires?
Craig
What tire if I don't go with the Falkens which I totallly happy with now, but have no snow experience with, do you mavens think is best?
I live in the Detroit area and have yet to see another '04 TL.
Also thinking the front and reat Facias from the spec as I can get a good deal (cost)
with the dealer.

Todd,
Will Mazda RX-8 rims fit on the 2004 TL with Bremo brakes? The rims are 18x8" with 50 offset. If so, what size of tire would you recommend: 235/40/18 or 245/40/18?
Greatly Appreciated,
Adam

Winter tires
Synoil,
I have looked at some winter tires. I may also use the stock rims for winter.
We have Dunlop Wintersport M2 in my wife's MDX and they are nicer thtn the stock Michelin S/S tires. 235/45/17 or 245/45/17
I have had Yokohama Ice Guard IG10 on my '99 TL and liked them a lot. That version doesn't fit the "04, but a the IG 721 comes in 245-45-17
I have had Michelin Pilot Alpins on my '99 TL. They drive nicely, but had the least grip on ice of the three, IMO. 235/45/17 or 245/45/17.

18x8 wheels +38 or +45 offset?
Both of these will fit. According to Todd's "ideal fitments", the +38 is right there (+35 to +40). However, the stock 17x8 wheel is +45!
What is a mother to do?
The +38 will move the wheel out a little (.3"), but is well within the range Todd put up for 8" width Wheels (+31 to +63).
I plan to use 245/40/18 Falken 512 tires.
Has anybody used these combinations and have comments or pics?
Discounttire does not list my wheels of choice, but they are supposed to quote them for me, anyway. Hopefully they will have an opinion.

Nox 3.2,
Yes, these are made for FWD vehicles, although JEGS dosn't show them in 19" the Centerline wed site has the 19" at a premium I might add.
I just wish they made 19x8 or 19x8.5
Thanks for the hook-up.

Three Wheelin'
I've tried to read most of this post, but have probably missed a few. So if this question has been answered, sorry.
I want to clarify the offset. First, I don't know what "et" means in the original post, buy I assume it is offset. I think this would be easier to follow if the more common terminology were used.
Second, please confirm if I am correct here. A stock wheel is a 45 mm offset. So, if I were to buy another 8" wide wheel, and the offset is 40mm, I believe that means there is less offset, so the wheel would actually sit 5 mm further out from the centerline of the car. In other words, it would move out closer to the lip of the fender, is this correct? And in laymen's terms, an inch is approximately 25.5 mm, so this change of 5 mm means it would be 1/5 of an inch closer to the lip.
I would appreciate if those in the know will confirm that I'm correct.
Thanks.

235/40/19
Sorry if I missed this but - I have seen this question been answered atleast 3 times -
Do you know if 235/40/19's will fit the 04 TL ? If not will a bit wider tires give more preventive damage to the rim on bumps. Say 245/35/19's
I have Racing Hart CR (multi-peice ) 19x8's on my current car which I am trading in for a TL soon.
- These rims are expensive so I am just gonna keep them to put on a SSM TL when I get it.. SICK

with larger tire i prefer 45-48 to keep the rubber away from the well lip, but it all depends on the tire/rim combo.

Did you mean to ask if 16" winter for your TL-S would fit the 04? I have the same question.
Apparently the brakes (calipers and rotors) on the TL-S and the TL 5AT are the same, so the rims will clear the calipers. The question is the larger rotors/ calipers of the 6MT. Apparently, the rotor diameter for the 5AT is 11.8 in/300mm and the 6MT has 12.2 in/310mm. With this larger diameter and the bigger caliper to boot, the 16" rims MAY nor clear it.
I dunno this firsthand, but judging by the way the 16's looked on my TL-S, I guess we're outa luck and may have to spring for 17" rims for summer. Another predicament is 17" steel rims that may be used with snow tires. I don't think there are very many 17" steel rims out there.

measure your caliper offset (straigtedge on outside rim lip, then measure through the rim to the highest spot on caliper). using that # and the knowns (oem 8"w x 45mm rim), you can know if any other rim will fit given it's size and measurement from front lip to backside of rim spoke.
