'04 TL - Directional Tires / Replacement Suggestions
Hi Everyone-
I have a 2004 TL w/ automatic transmission. Currently riding on General Exclaim UHP 235/45ZR17 which now have almost 29K miles on them. I recently noticed that between 50-55 MPH I'm getting a medium-pitched humming sound. I brought it into the dealer today and they say it's because I have directional tires on the car and those are known to be problematic on TLs.
I'm a little skeptical of that answer. I've only noticed the humming within the last few thousand miles, the first 25K+ they were pretty good. I'm wondering whether it's just that they're down to 3/32" tread.
Anyone else have directional tires and have this problem? I'm also interested in suggestions for replacement tires.
Thanks!

Get another set of Generals if you were happy-
Still the price to value masters in my opinion!!!
Directionals cause noise- now I have heard everything--and I used to be in the biz~
Wanna bet they say mickyslips (what they sell) are the best tires because they came stock-
they came on the car because acura got a great deal on a million tires!
If you are at the wear bars or close- you need tires- 3/32 would be the normal minimum
the old penny test trick- stick Mr Lincons hat end in first to the tread-
if the tire does not swallow his head- its too low!
29k miles on some nice sticky tires- I am even happier with mine now- see what miles you got from them. I was figuring anything over 20 was a bonus
If you want to spend more- Goodyear F1s are rockinroll

I had General Exclaim on my old wheels but I got Falken FK452 for the new wheels. Great bang for the buck on the Generals. Go here for excellent prices on tires. http://www.onlinetires.com/default.a...ta=tireResults
If you live in Southern Cali, you have to pay tax though.

Anyway, FWIW, I put on Goodyear Eagle F1s on last month. They're directional but the noise is minimal.
