WOW: No power again! (Got stranded).
Well, I don't know if you guys remember my thread a few weeks ago but it explained how I got stranded at a gas station.
Well, just today, I got stranded at my parents work.
Locked the car twice before entering their store, came back and unlocked with keyfob.
Then push key in the ignition and nothing. No power, no noises, nothing; just dead.
So I pop the hood, and undo the negative ring terminal. Put it back on the battery terminal and nothing. No tiny spark like it usually does.
All I noticed was when I touched the battery terminal with the ring terminal, the ACCORD fog relay would make a sound sorta like a click. It would do it every time I touch the battery terminal with the ring terminal.
Each attempt failed so I decided to do one thing: rule out the accord fogs.
Unplugged the fuse for the fogs, disconnected the relay, unplugged the on/off switch inside. The only thing now connected that had to do with the fogs is only the ground.
At this point I tried to start up the car and still nothing no power.
Then I took a 10mm ratchet and undid the grounding strap bolt. Took the grounding strap and sanded everything down good.
Bolted the grounding strap back on (without the accord fog ground), and put the ring terminal over the battery.
YAY there's a spark so I knew it worked.
Started up the car, no problem. So now my car's electrical is 100% not connected to any accord related wires.
So I think either the grounding strap needs to be replaced (it's cheap from Honda), or the Honda Accord fog relay is bad.
If a car makes a bad connection, don't I still get power but not enough to startup the car at least? In my case I randomly got NO POWER.
The Accord relay making a sound when I touch the negative ring terminal to the post is weird too.
Let me know what you think!
Thanks!

could be a bad relay or fog switch. The fact that it's automatically switching when you connect the battery is a sign something's stuck "on" or shorting.
this is one thing i'm afraid of with my cheap HID relay, that one day it'll just get stuck ON and drain my battery with my ignition off. oh wells. I had a cheap relay on my old integra for 2 years without issues.
maybe just make it a project over the weekend to re-do your fog wiring and switches/relays (replace everything).

After you sanded everything have you tried it yet everything hooked back up? It sounds like could be bad grounds (connections) in general. I've seen this soooo many times especially with boats. It's crazy how much havoc a simple connection can make.
p.s. little electrical grease on contacts never hurts.

GP, sorry to hear you're still having problems. It sounds like TLove has the solution...hopefully.

It's either the battery or poor terminal-clamp conductivity. I literally installed a fresh battery and it wouldn't crank because of a sulfated clamp. Highly unlikely it's related to fogs.
