Windshield Fogging Up And Won't Defog Completely

My windshield is fogging up and even when I press the defrost button for the windshield, it won't defog completely. I had the windshield repaired before for a chipped rock (still have the original OEM Acura glass on it now) and about 2 weeks ago, another rock chipped my windshield.

Do you think it could be the windshield needs to be replaced (I will demand Acura OEM glass)? I'm open to answers and suggestions.

Do NOT use recirculate (if you are doing this). Also, do not press the defrost button since that activates the A/C. Use the manual settings for venting and defrost with warmish air.

I might be incorrect in stating so, but the purpose of activating the a/c in colder weather is to condense the air, is it not?

is your window just dirty? i usually have to clean the inside of the window once a month because it develops a film on like the bottom 6 inches of the window. just another thing to think about above and beyond the heat settings.

You want the AC on but you want the Recirculate OFF. With recirc on your windows will fog up.

Probably fitted the system with a fan that moved a greater volume of air then a geriatric emphysema patient

Yeah, I'm not using the recirculate button. As blkaspec said, my windshield is probable dirty. Btw.... my temp was set to 72.

I've had this type of problem on occasion (defog on, recirc off, a/c on): The top 1/3 of my windshield won't defog. It seems to happen on days of high humidity.

Switching to a high temp and high fan speed will clear it out, but it returns after I switch back to normal temp/fans speeds (with defog still on, recirc off, a/c on).

It doesn't happen very often so I haven't really given it much attention. But it's quite annoying when it does happen: the fog line is right at my line of sight.

It's true that a dirty windshield will fog quicker than a clean one, especially if anyone has smoked in the car. However, I'm a non-smoker and cleaning the windshield doesn't seem to make a difference in my case.

with the temp, i usually find less is more. you want warm enough, but not too warm. i may turn it up right at first but once it gets warm i turn it down to like 65-68. but thats just in my car, may not be the same number in all.

The A/C will remove humidity and will do a quick job. But the problem is, it blows cool air and that can lead to some interior fogging in the winter. I have found that for me and the area in which I live, the best setting is manual mode, temperature 70-72, outside air supply, and vents set to floor. With the floor setting, a little air is allowed to reach the windshield. In those times when I find I need to defrost (rare in winter for me), I say, "Climate control floor and defrost" or "Climate control defrost" via the Nav.

Even in the summer months, I do this - unless it is too warm or too humid. Then I use the defrost button which does engage the A/C. Best thing to do is find what works best for your particular situation and go with that. This could take a little experimenting, but it's worth it in the end.
