Why the bad gas mileage?

Why the bad gas mileage?
I own an 06 TL and my driving is mostly city. I've had the 105k mile service completed. I drove 153 miles in a week and the gas gauge is at just less than half-a-tank. Probably used 8 gallons but I know the gas light will come on soon. Is the gauge wrong or am I just getting about 19 miles per gallon. All of the KBB consumer reviewers are touting mid-twenties in the city and about 32mpg on the freeway. I don't have a lead foot and I use premium fuel only.

First, plenty of threads on bad gas mileage. Do a search and you might find something that helps.
What is the MID telling you for gas mileage?
Not sure about those KBB reviews claiming 25 mpg city driving. I don't think you'll find anyone here who gets that good of mileage in the city. I don't live in a metro area, but most people are getting high teens/low 20's for city driving, depending on how severe the stop and go traffic is.
I don't think your mileage is out of line, maybe a little low. I really think most of the purported gas mileage issues are driver induced....

Yep, lots and lots of threads on this.
Items that will impact mileage:
- Tires (I switched from EL42 to Pilot Sport A/S+ and dropped 3-5mpg)
- Tire Pressure
- Driving Style
- Premium Fuel
- Time of year (winter gas quite often gets less mpg)
- Ethanol content (higher can give less mpg)
- Driving style (lead foot, etc)
- Type of Driving (city vs. highway)
- Overall speeds (highway at 65mph vs at 80mph)
In true city stop and go driving, I get right around 20mpg. My commute averages are 25-26 with the Pilot Sport A/S+. My highway with the PS A/S+ is around 28. Previously my highway was around 31-32mpg with the EL42.

Best I've ever gotten was when my '04 manual was around a year old. It was in the summer when your mileage is going to be better, during a week of work commuting which took me through residential areas and a small city with lights, traffic, and stop signs. About an hour to go 22 miles in these areas and no A/C. The car still had the factory OEM EL42 touring tires at the time of the test and the mileage is accurage because it is calculated with both fillups at the same pump, done in the same way. For that period, I got 27.98 MPG.

19 is good for all city. As I say in every one of these threads, post your average mph and mpg and go from there. For one person, city driving may be an average of 40mph and for people like me, it's as low as 12mph. Mine goes down to 13mpg driving it nicely at 12-17mph. It's normal, it's done it since brand new. I still get the normal 30-34mpg on the freeway even with exta weight and wider, sticky tires.

The KBB consumers appear about as accurate as the used car values are. Shoulda checked here first.
I can 31-32 on the highway at THE SPEED LIMIT. 28 at 10 over. It goes down from there as I push more air out of the way.
In the city, I get about 19-20.
I usually get about 24-25 blended with most of my time on the highway.
I have continentals on my 06 and tiger paws on my 04 - both are about the same MPGwise.
If they made a 4 cyl TL, I would buy one if it got TSX or Civic mileage.

With a total of 1260 miles and average miles per hour being 34 I have gotten 26mpg. In the summer I get 28mpg with the same average mph. Even when I reset it it comes in at 25-28. I drive pretty light footed.

That's exactly the mpg and mph I had for the first two years I owned the car before I reset it. These things seem to be really consistent in the mph vs mpg department.
