Wheel Locks Swiped-advice please
I wasnt sure if this belonged in Mods or Fixes...but here goes...some advice, please...
So I know this jack ass that has it out for me, and I have locks on my stock wheels. The issue is that this dude still figures out a way to take off the lock. He ONLY takes off the locked lugs from random wheels and leaves the rest on. Sort of as a fuck you. He even one time loosened all lugs on a single wheel (on a diff car) and I was moving along at 80MPH, felt very little vibration, and a dude pulled up next to my waving like a lunatic, I pulled over and HOT DAMN...I was almost a goner. Don't get into the "sue him, kill him...blah blah" I can't prove it is him since my car is often unattended in public. All my buddies in Detroit get into this, but it is a non starter. What should I do? Would different wheels have a better safety/lock option? Could I put different locks on each lug? Let me know any thoughts and thanks. |
I think autozone sells some lug nuts that every single one is a lock, and the key goes into the center of the lug nut, not on the outer, the whole outer is rounded

You can bash a socket onto OE wheel locks and remove them easily
There are only a handful of acura lug keys so a determined auto worker would aquire those in a few minutes Aftermarket locks- different brands spread among your wheels is about your best bet. And get a real alarm system for it. Mark the lugs after you torque them to spec. Then all you have to do is see if the special secret marks line up and the wheels are tight We use paint on critical bolts in the race car to know if they have moved from tight at a glance |
get aftermarket ones, I have heard that gorilla locks are good. Get a good car alarm with a shock sensor, that might be able to help. Also it would be could to find a hobo and pay him 5 bucks to watch your car for you.

there is a lot of good advice here...I think I am going to take a lot of it and go with it...prob get a shock sensing alarm, those nuts from autozone and go with it. Im looking to get some 19 wheels from TireRack and sure as fuck dont want them gone either from this assface or just from some random thief.

When I was in college, my roommate was into steeling rims
He explained how he got around wheel locks. He would find some wheels he wanted to steel and if there was a wheel lock, he would take some silly putty and stick it into the key to get an impression of the key shape. Then he took the putty home and machined a key to exactly fit the wheel lock. Next night he'd go out and use his homemade key to steal the rims. Making the key only took him about an hour at a cost of $10 - easily worth the hassle of making the key if it meant an easy wheel jacking. In conclusion, standard wheel locks are useless against a determined thief. |
install motion sensing flame thrower alarm at the wheels. DONE.

I read all the posts.. now i want more info on why he keeps messing with your rims and you :X

Hook up a wireless surveliance camera and catch the kid. Take it to the police. What he is doing is illegal.

Too bad there isn't an easy way to electrify the wheels/wheel lugs... :)
