I was scheduled to get a valve adjusment but bailed because I wasnt sure and didnt want to get charged another 200 dollars for acura to look at my car

its a 04 tl with 73k miles on it
it used to be my brothers and he used crappy low octane 711 gas but ever since i got it a year ago i only use 93 octane shell vpower

i was told it could be the
timing belt
lifter
or valves
or vacuum?

please help me find out so i can take it to the dealership and find out
my last quarter mile i ran last yearr was a low 16.. andi was told that valves could make you a lot of power
could this be the problem?
thanks
