Paul, did you end up getting an aftermarket clutch or a oem one? I am sorry to hear the car was torn up before you got it. I bought my car with 33k on it this year and now has 78k on it with no issues. Knock on wood. Don't blame the car. Find the asshole who owned it and give him two smacks in the mouth and call it even..lol. Also what was the cost of the clutch and the install??

The lesson here is that any car 1 year old already for sale--- MAY ---have a serious issue the owner knows or suspects to be happening,,, and offs the car before they shell out $$$$ for letting their kid learn to drive a stick, and give him a TL in the same deal!!!
Any used car needs to be well checked out and tested by a qualified mechanic WITH acura experience, and knows what to look for.
We can add clutch to that list now for sure!!

Mike's Silver Bullet
Other people have had problems with the 3g clutch; use search.
Mine was replaced at 18k, they did it under warranty, but I had to ask a lot of questions.
Since you paid for it, did they give you the old parts?
Was the clutch disk worn to the rivets?

Got my car back.
Total repair cost: $1200.00 (P/L + Towing $170.00 + Mobil1 syn Oil Change)
Clutch was replace with OEM parts, due to lack of specific aftermarket clutch.
But the car drives great, crisper shift / grab. No problem so far.
First day back (06/02/08) , hope fully I won't have to come back to this thread for while.

Paul, was the old clutch grabbing at the very end of the pedal? When do you feel the new clutch grab now, midway, bottom, 3/4 out? I am just curious to see how a new clutch grabs compaired to the worn out one. I know a lot of people say Honda's clutch has a tendency to grab very high.

Actually, I felt the most grab very early 2-3 inches off the floor , jerk the car couple time during the first day of driving, but I got used to it now.
I don't know , maybe I could be the person who messed up my clutch, but when switch gears , i like to have the "smooth" transition b/w gear, so I'll let the clutch off pretty slow, this is the way I drove since my first car back in 1996. So I don't think It's me.

anyone here have experience with the following aftermarket parts?
Clutch

Flywheel

If so, how long have you had them installed? How have they performed relative to factory parts?
TIA
