transmission stuck in sport shift mode

Well this sunday, i was on my way home and when i switched too "D" it automatically went too sports mode and the little "D" on the dash board was flashing I was wondering if anybody knows what might of cause that? I took the terminals off the battery...after that it fixed itself though.

now when i place the key in the ignition right before i start the car, the little green light next too "D" turns on but turns off as soon as i turn on the car. Is that normal?
Thanks guys!

I know that with both Honda's and Acura's, a flashing 'D' is not good. Read the owners manual. It definitely talks about this issue.

tranny has standard warranty to 70K. Even if it seams fine, get it checked. I know this doesn't always result in what you want to hear but 3G's had some crap transmissions the first model year.

btw, what year/miles?

wow..i dont want too learn the hard way so ill call the dealership today. Since i have a CAI and a UR crank pulley...would that void any of the tranny warranty though?

hmmm, the UR Pulley might get you some static. Just tell them to give you the analysis and post it up here. The pro's on this forum will tell you if it was pulley related or not.

worst case, I'd yank it, put the stock one back on and take it to a different dealer.

I've always thought about that. It's possible they talk a lot to trade parts and what not but, my particular dealer outsells everyone in the area and I think the other stores hate them.

they charge you the inspection fee even though you have an extended warranty? If I purchased one of those I would expect to drop the car off and get a loaner like I did when it was under factory warranty.

Bro, your in Cali. Maybe hit up some members in your area and ask about good Honda/Acura local shops.

the code is recorded in the computer and the diagnosis doesnt cost a thing if they r going to repair it under warranty only if the tranny did throw a code and the tranny is on its way to the junk heap. id have a friend or someone else look the code up. dont clear anything tho just look it up and see what the issue was.

Yeah, due too the car being older that 4 years. that was their reason supposedly it was mandatory.

Well i would think cali members would see this thread though

Their reason was because they dont know if the part would be covered under warranty so their going too charge me the $110 and the cover the parts etc. with the warranty.
good idea, thanks...im going too take it too a friends shop too look up the code
