Transmission refused to go into Manual mode

Just as an opening statement, my transmission feels fine. No shuddering or anything odd. I recently did a 3x3 and installed a cooler. Tranny feels even better.

The other day I was driving in the Manual mode. I wasnt driving hard or anything. I eventually looked and noticed that the gear indicator was blacked out, and I had no control over gear selection. It was as if it were in D. Shifting back and forth did nothing. I turned the car on and off and it was fine again. Again, there was no other strange symptoms. It did this about a week back and it had just been sitting on my mind a bit. I was just wondering what might have caused it. I have driven in M mode since, but the issue has not shown itself again. No codes. Nothing.

Any ideas?

It's the transmission gear position sensor... I had the same problem. Hasn't occurred it two months since I replaced the sensor.

Is it possible that the sensor was just acting up? As I mentioned, it works fine now. I drive almost exclusively in manual mode (just a habit). No repeat symptoms yet. Ill probably water for it to happen at least once more before I go replace the sensor.

I don't know, but in my case it kept happening every other week or so.
