Which transmission fluid?
hello this is my first time posting on acura zine! this seems to be a great website, anyway i just recently bought and 2004 Acura TL and love the car. I went to check the transmission fluid and noticed it was somewhat dirty and i wanted to change it, so i went to the internet and there are people saying dont use acura honda fluid people say do it. what is the best fluid that wont tear my transmission up. i dont do any racing or hard driving just highway and in town nothing major.

You basically have three options:
The OEM honda DW-1 fluid
Redline
or Amsoil
I personally use the Amsoil and have never had any issues with it in several different
vehicles.
Others swear by Redline.
You should also replace the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches as they will help keep your tranny alive. Do a search and you will find plenty of DIY for replacing them and tons of debate/info on what fluid to use.

It's pretty easy, all you need to do is search for "3rd and 4th pressure switches" and it comes up but since you are new, here you go.

If you can change your oil, you can change the fluid and switches. It's very easy. Just make sure you order the correct parts (google search acura oem parts) and fluid. If you haven't changed the fluid recently or you don't know when it was done last you will want to change it 3x. You only get about 3 quarts out at a time that is why they suggest doing a "3x3" (3 quarts, 3 times).
