Thoughts on early 105k service
Good Afternoon peeps,
I just got my car back from the dealer(changed battery under warranty). Everything went fine, for once there was no "hidden" issues that came up. They did mention that I should think about doing the 105k service early due to the age of my car (8yrs)and cold winters we have here in Montreal.
My car is a 2008 TL with 94,000Km~59,000 miles. Car runs fine, with no major issues over the 6 years I have had the car. I do baby my car and since I fly a lot for work don't really drive it as much as I'd like.
The only reason I am contemplating it is because of the age and that the miles I do have on it are pretty much all city driving.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Montreal's climate doesn't even come close to the "severe driving conditions" listed in the owner's/service manual.
That's just the dealer trying to upsell a service and scam you. You'll be just fine waiting until a "4" shows on the MID...

Wait. I'm near Montreal too, got a '04 with 150,000 km (just hit it this week!) and 105K hasn't been done and I don't even feel bad about it. Which dealership did you go to?
I inspected the TB components when I bought the car last year with 138,000 km, all is good. Check spark plugs for tightness (torque to spec) and coolant quality using an antifreeze tester but otherwise don't sweat it.
Put your money elsewhere and do your regular maintenance.

Very quick story...my dad was driving a 94 Accord (4 cyl with timing belt) that was his DD for many years (was a hand me down from my sister)- odometer broke ~ 230K or so miles, and he drove it to greater than 250K miles ON THE ORIGINAL BELT!!!!
Well anyway, the belt finally gave up the ghost recently and the rest of the car was getting worn/rusted. The engine was shot with the TB gone, but again, after 250K miles. By the way, this was an outdoor car (parked in the driveway, not in the garage at all times) in NJ with lows in the single digits in the winter and highs in the upper 90s at times in the summer. I saw the old, broken belt, and some of the teeth of the belt had come off and the exterior of the belt had some cracks in it (aside from the major break point), but it's a testament to how hearty these belts really are.
My old 00TL had its TB service done at 140K miles and my brother (who owns the car now) told me the belt looked as new (and yes, I realize that looking at it in no way ensures it can't break).
Moral of the story...
59,000 miles is way too early for a new belt (and being that it's an 08 MY, the belt is only 7 years old). If you're uncomfortable waiting for too many years to pass, I'd do the service maybe a little earlier (as I did) ~ 95K miles. I did mine early because Hamilton Honda in NJ was having a TB special and I wanted to get a decent price for the work. You still have ~ 45000 miles to go before the MID will tell you it's time for the belt.

Thanks guys, that what I figured. I had a old prelude that went well past 200k on the same belt so I figured I should be fine for quite some time. They just had me thinking because of how much the car just sits but it drives fine and no lights or anything. Gotta love the stealership..
