Steering question.

So I just bought an 07 Type S about a week ago and ive noticed that my steering wheel is very heavy when I turn at low speeds. every review ive heard about the car has mentioned that steering is pretty heavy at low speeds but im wondering how do you really know if theres a problem or if its normal.

I notice this the most when im say backing into a spot and turning the wheel I have to use a lot of force and both hands for sure to to this.

Thanks

Time to hit the gym buddy

It's been discussed before that the car has a little stiffer steering but unless there's any noise (aka power steering pump issue), it's ''normal".

Just do some more bicep curls

Lol ok man thanks I don't hear any noise in the steering at all so maybe I am just weak. Guess I'm just double checking bc it's basically impossible to back into a spot and turn the wheel with one hand

Just had my 05 steering pump replaced and and soon after that I experience this same problem. Discovered air bubbles in the system, gonna do a flush refill. Check your reservoir for possible air bubbles first.

To remove the air bubbles from the PS you just lock wheels left and right ~10 times. No need for a flush and fill.

What was your prior car? The TL isn't what I'd call overly heavy but it's no grampa's old Cadillac with one fingertip steering.

Hmm. I can still pretty easily one-palm steer my 05TL in reverse (with other hand on passenger seat head rest as I look out the back window). Never needed both hands ever. And I have road cyclist chicken arms. So you may have something going on if you can honestly say you are of average strength.

This may be obvious but when was the last time you checked the air pressure in your front tires?? I know the TPMS will alert you when a tire is low, but believe (not positive) it only alerts based on a difference threshold (20%??) between tires. Your steering may require more effort if you tire pressure is low.
