Question Static center speaker. Only when car running TL 04 navigation

2004 acura TL manual trans, navigation. I get static from center speaker only when car is running. Problem appears to be worse (louder static) when car is cold. Amplifier? If it was the alternator I would think all speakers would have the static.

They have a radio repair company in Orlando that has a good reputation (as far as I can tell) but want to have good handle on what to send them.

thanks for any help

I just got my OEM amp back from them (Carstereohelp.com). Works great now, didn't have static, but extremely low volume (had to crank it to 30 to hear it). $125 for the repair.

Thanks very much for the information. I feel better about sending my amp to them after learning about your recent experience. They seem knowledgeable and are willing to talk to you on the phone about your specific problem.

I'm not saying go out and replace the amp but I had a similar problem on a customer's car. I had replaced the dash and after all said and done, light static from the front speakers/center.

I swapped amplifiers from another car and the static went away. Not sure what happened but I'm guessing something might have happened to the amp or the problem was there before.

'04 amps like to go bad, I have yet to read a satisfactory reason why.

I replaced it with a unit from '05 onward.

Thanks for your information. I seem to notice the static in all speakers now when car is running. Dies out after car is turned off. I will let you all know how the repair works out.

Yea my 04 is giving horrible noise out the rears. Then had a full JL system installed but they tapped post amp thinking the signal was too weak, going to try and go pre amp to bypass it.... I've heard they pretty much all go bad... Sad part is my friend just traded in his 07 and I forgot to swap it

I'm having the same problem in my 06 TL. The problem is so bad I'm wondering if something else is wrong. The static makes the speakers pop and crackle. I disconnected the front speaker on the passenger side, both tweeters and the crackling has declined. Nevertheless, it seems the carstereohelp.com site may have an answer. Hoping to hear some more reviews before I send my amp in for repair or hoping someone on this site has one for sale.

I got my factory amp back from carstereohelp.com (located in longwood florida, near Orlando). They received the amp on Thursday, fixed it on Friday and it was back to me on the following monday(even though it was federal holiday). The buzzing problems went away. For a few bucks more than a used amp, they rebuild (replace capacitors, re-solder potential bad connections etc) and give you a one year warranty. Based on my experience I would recommend them to anyone. If you call them on the phone you get to speak to technicians who really seem to know their stuff and they are polite and helpful. Total price including shipping and tax was 156$. The amp was well and safely packed for the return trip. They also repair the other sound system components. I would not bother with a used amp unless you can get it cheap....the rebuilt one from these people should last you a while and has a warranty of one year, not 90 days.
