Slight Squeak that disappears when engaging clutch
Hey homies,
I've been experiencing a very slight but audible squeak for the engine/transmission area of my 2008 TL-S. When the clutch is in...no chirping...when the clutch is out and in neutral or while in gear....noticeable chirping. Put in clutch....noise stops. Stealership says it's the pilot bearing and it won't be cheap to replace it. I've read though all of the forums reading this issue and I guess my real question is: After 115000kms I love this car...it torque steers like hell but it one of the best cars I've ever owned but the repair will be expensive...most likely $1000+. Would y'all repair it or put that $1000 towards something like a 2016 Honda Accord Coupe, 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible, or an 2015 Audi S5 convertible? I know the cars I am considering replacing the TL-S with is quite the spread....

I believe that chirping is the input shaft bearing..but I'm definitely not a trans expert. My legend has been making that chirp (when the car is idle and foot is off the clutch pedal) for some time now and it hasn't gotten worse. I'm thinking if it isn't too loud just let go for now and see what happens. If you have to get it replaced you might as well do the whole clutch job at the same time

Throw out bearing start to goes bad. I had to a shop replace once in my legend, its so loud that i have to keep the clutch pedal pressed during stop light. BTW the clutch replacement at dealler is around $2000 -$2400

+1 on throwout bearing. Squeaking is a common symptom for all MT cars.
