Side mirror tilt on reverse -- getting choppy -- any quick fixes?

I have over 70,000 on my '04TL .. my auto tilt on reverse (on the passenger side mirror only) is getting a bit choppy when tilting down .. it will tilt completely down but it gets stuck a couple times then finally makes it all the way down --

is there any way that someone has figured out how to grease the gearing (if possible)? Thanks

usually the dealer wold replace it, but if you want to grease it, take the mirror out of the housing and just use some grease on the parts, thats what my friend did on his older car when the mirror didn't move down smoothly when adjusting.

Do I have to remove some plastic fascia on the interior to access bolts/screws that anchor the mirror to the door?
