"side airbag off" light on

Well I was driving home today when I noticed the "Side Air Bag Off" light kept coming on then going off in the middle of my commute with no one or nothing in the pass side seat. What does this mean. I called the used car dealer that i bought the car from and they said it was normal. I never noticed this light coming on on any TL that i have ever driven... Now let me ask.... Is it normal for this light to come on when driving solo with nothing on any seats in this car?

No, it's not normal. It should initially come on when you start the car, then after about 5 or 10 seconds, go off and stay off.

normally the side air bag light comes on if you have something that is like 50 pounds or is the equivalent of a small child in the passenger seat. the airbag turns off so it doesn't whack the kid in the head (i think). if there's nothing in the seat at all then something's wrong...take it to the stealer.
