shutter when shift at 50-60KPH (30 MPH)

Hi all

I am having problem with my 04-TL A5, when accelerating from stop to street speed 50-60KPH (~30MPH) i can feel the shutter when the car is shifting. if i am driving it hard it does not happen or the shift is to fast to feel it.

any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.

after paint problem now this. I am starting to think that Acura has gone down the gutter with there product. don't get me wrong this is a great car but with all the problems that I am having... I am very disappointed.

Thanks in advanced..
MC

There are a few threads that pertain to this issue. There are a few people, including my self that have had their trannys replaced from this issue. Mine was done at 56k under my extended warranty.

Shuttering gear change '04 TL

I have just recently started experiencing this issue. It doesn't seem like a big deal now because it only tends to happen in the morning. Possibly due to cold tranny oil?? But my concern is will this continue and get worse. It doesn't happen too often either. My extended warranty is up in another 8000 miles!

If you have warranty left I would suggest getting it to Acura

I also have this problem. My warranty has ran out and have been debating what to do. It does not happen all the time and it just started about 4 months ago, especially uphill. I have 63,000 miles on the car and do not want to replace the tranny. Everyone else I tell thinks I am nuts so good to know I am not the only one.

Took my TL to the dealer the night before it was going to be looked at for this issue since it seems to only happen on cold days or the mornings. The mechanic could not get it to do it so I went on a test drive with him. It happened once while I was driving but it didn't do it for him.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do next? It seems that this may not be a widespread issue. I even had my trannny oil replaced just in case but it still does the stuttering!

You need to let the tech drive the car while you ride. Direct him or her how to duplicated it. It is easier for the driver to feel it.

Yea, this seems to be the trend with dealers, i took my car to the dealer again for the second time left the car with them for the whole day. they call me back in the afternoon and said that they can not find the problem. i had to pay for the rental car for the day. they did not charge me for the checkup.

not very happy with this issue. i might have to call acura canada for this.

it seems that i am not the only person having this problem.

its a shame...

you have the same thing as gen2 trans failures- my 01 has a acura replacement trans and its acting up with the chudder when light throttle off the line- as it shift into 2nd and into 3rd very subtle - the tech didnt feel on drive so they said come back when its worse.
They know me and wont hassle about another replacement trans FREE
Most of gen2 got a court ordered 7y9moth /109k mile warranty on trans
The prob continued well into 2005 when they seem to have gotten it mostly fixed- based on the replacement units life on gen2 cars
So why they are giving you gen3 guys a prob is odd
