Rust Colored Mineral Deposits on Hood etc..

Hi everyone, just wondering how I might prevent/get rid of small but very noticeable rust colored spots that appear on the hood, roof, and trunk lid. I think they're mineral in nature, because they seem to crop up in the wet/cold weather. Has anyone else had this issue? I can get them out by rubbing them vigorously, but if anyone has an easier solution, I'd be all for it. Thanks much!

use an automotive claybar.

those are fallout. could be from a factory/railroad near you or you may have been following (you didnt have to be directly behind) a truck on the road.

wash your car. while its wet, spray the lubricant on one section that you clay. if you arent sure how to use one, get instructions online on how to properly do it.

Its refered to as "Rail dust" and is usually from snow plow blades ... wearing brake parts and other iron based wear including good old railroar rail dust.

Per the above use a clay bar .. There is a link in the dropdowns on my web site "Cleaning your paint withclay" .. might help you out.
