RL caliper conversion issue
I was just wondering if anyone else who has the rl caliper conversion on their 3g is having any noise issues? After installing them, they were extremely loud but after breaking in a bit, the noise calmed down. But every time I make a right turn, it makes a pretty loud noise still. It is very inconsistent, sometimes it doesn't make any noise and other times it is the most embarrassing thing ever. The pads and the rotors look fine, which is why I believe it is the brackets causing some sort of vibration. The first time I took it off the brackets, I noticed some of the powder from the powder coat was rubbing off at a certain area where the caliper really didn't fit flushly with the bracket.

Sounds like something somewhere is rubbing. I'd check the excess length on the adapter studs to make sure they're not nipping the barrel of your wheel- you may have to cut them down some

I think fixed calipers in general make more nose than floating calipers. My OE Brembos make quite a bit of noise.
Like others said though, you might want to check that everything is in order just to be safe. |
Sorry for the late response, I forgot I posted this. So they were a little long, and trimmed it down but that noise has always been there since day one. I understand BBKs are loud, but these are the most ridiculously loud things ever. I mean you will hear me from 10 blocks away sometimes. My friend always laughs and tells me how far down he heard me whenever I see him.

Whats your pads brand???
Also, I would look at the hose to be sure she is not twisted |

Wierd.....:annoyed: EBC redstuff should be really quite, thats what I have for street use.
Before selling them, have you installed de shims between pads and pistons, 'cause my EBC didn't came with them, I used my OEM's. They are used to always keep the pads straight against the rotors. You can aslo buy the anti squeal paste, they do a great job when I put the Hack HP plus who are squealling like hell when not heated up + be sure everything is well greased, no rust. hope it helps, good look :wish: |
Hm.. that's weird. I just installed my calipers this weekend and didn't have a problem at all with noise. I have EBC RedStuff pads and BrakeMotive rotors.
I would try removing the rotors, pads and calipers and installing them again. Also did you rebuild the calipers before you put them on? It's fairly cheap.. I bought the rebuild kits from AutoZone for about $18. And btw did you go through the bedding process for the pads? |
what size rotors are you running? either that or the brackets were installed incorrectly?
