Replacing power steering pump

The Haynes manual says to remove the side engine mount. I can't for the life of me figure out why that would be necessary unless that's to make it easier to do the serpentine belt? Anyone done this job before and have any experience? The pump itself is only two bolts...
Thanks, jb

I never removed the mount. Then you'd have to support the engine with a jack too. I didn't even remove the pulley from the ps pump. Remove belt with breaker bar, and I took a ratcheting wrench with swivel to the bolt at the front and a socket to the back.
