Question regarding oil pan replacement on '06 TL
Good morning
My girlfriend's father is about to replace the oil pan on his '06 TL and I'm going to lend him a hand with the project this upcoming weekend. I have a quick question regarding the job- would it be necessary to replace the oil seal case assembly as well? (part number 11300-RCA-A00 on this diagram http://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/P...gPicture=False) It looks like it's not an integral part of the oil pan itself but he has noticed some minor leaks coming from that general area.
Thanks in advance for your input!

Depending on the mileage, if the seal doesn't look like it's deteriorating then I would leave it along. A helpful hint to you, remove the exhaust bolts on the j-pipe which connect to the front + rear cat and let that pipe just hang down a bit. You should have enough clearance to remove the pan. Don't forget a tube or RTV or honda bond to re-seal the oil pan before putting it back up.

It is not necessary. The front mail seal has nothing to do with your pan.
If the front main seal is leaking, then replacement is a bigger job. You will have to perform the general steps to replace the timing belt, but then go further and remove the crank sensor to replace the front main seal. You need to use a seal press to make sure that you don't damage the seat - you can rent these at some auto parts stores or buy them pretty cheap at harbor freight.
