Problems with Timing Belt Replacement

As i posted on here today I had a problem with the PS Hose popping. Well I decided to the next day get my timing belt and that whole line of about $800 done along with the manual trans fluid and the in cabin air filter. All was good as I drove around for about 2 hours...then nothing, the car quit running. Hmm, So i call the Acura place that was closed and the sales guy answered. He came and got me, called a tow truck and put me in a service loaner. All day Friday I waited for someone to call me. I called, Service Tech, "I've never seen this in my 20+ years, The timing marks are all off. Just stay in the SVC Loaner, I'll call you Monday". Well has anyone else run into this? I wonder what went wrong.

The timing belt is pretty easy job once you get to it, especially for these guys who do it so often. Maybe they missed some of the initial TDC marks.. It'll be interesting to see how many bent valves and engine damage occurred.. Well if they get you a new crate engine.. it's all good..

Did they replace your auto-tensioner and water pump as well. I replaced both just in case in my MDX..

btw.. you said popping P/S hose?? was it leaking? under recall? Keep us updated.

Also, where are you in TX? What dealership did you go to?

So what did the dealer say about your ride?

You need to demand all new valves and guides. Make sure they do the complete job and not fix only what's wrong at the moment. In fact, I would want two new factory assembled heads put on.

If the engine ran ok and then just died, it's more than a matter of the tech just missing the mark. Even with the belt one tooth off, the car will barely run or not run at all.

Sounds like the belt broke or the tensioner let the belt jump time.

If the tensioner pulley was not replaced- it often fails soon after
Same result as a timing belt thats stretching right before it breaks and grenades the motor

What ever happened? Did they find they messed up the timing belt install or was it the tensioner? just curious had my timing belt tensioner and water pump replaced on my 04 a couple months agonwith 84000 miles on it. The tensioner looked bad and was leaking fluid. I don't think it would have made it to 105k. I guess that's why Acura says 105 k or 7 years. The parts fail from age/ climate related factors as well.
