Hey guys, like the title says, I went to close that slider over the cup holders today, and all that was left was the little handle tab.. Apparently the rest of if slides down in the console and it's stuck down there now.. Do I have to tear out the entire center console, and if so, is that a big job?

Buy new or used. The console is very easy to work on. There's DIYs in the garage.

 

It's such a silly thing that breaks. I just leave mine open all the time. I don't recall the last time I closed it. Post up in the marketplace that you are looking to buy one. People may have part outs going on and could hook you up with a working one. At least it's easy to swap out!!

mine broke recently and I took the whole mechanism out. so its just the cup holder!
I did it to fit a RCA/aux module underneath the cup holders

 

So those interested...... I fixed this yesterday. Took about 15 minutes.

Once you pull up the carbon fiber strips (on a type s) everything else is self explanatory.

I got the whole cup holder unit at a junk yard, and then just used the sliding piece with my console because mine was in better shape.

I used epoxy to glue the old one back together and you can't even tell it broke, and it is very strong, but I had already bought the other unit, so now I guess I have a back up.
