Parking Brake Creaking while entering or exiting car
Hey,
I've got the infamous parking brake creaking sound from my driver side rear.
EVERY time I get in or out of my car
OR EVERY time someone opens to door fully (which moves the car a little?)
OR every time I try to just budge a lug nut on any wheel (which is obviously supposed to rock the car a little), it creaks.
I assume it doesn't happen when I don't use the parking brake, which is never.
At first I thought my rear A-Spec suspension was creaking and got SO worried lol
Any pointers?

I think it depends on how you engage the parking brake....
if you go from D or R to P and then engage the parking brake you are sitting on the tranny + parking brake and hence there will be a little squeaking as the car moves....
if you go from D or R to N and then engage the parking brake and then you push to P, i think this will solve your problem

I remember you mentioned it to me a long time ago, to help with the shutter when engaging to drive.
One thing I noticed though was if I pull the parking brake up very far (requiring lots of strength!), the creak goes away.

Confirm it's the brake by doing the same thing with the brake off.
You can adjust if it's not adjusted correctly but you can also try to break it in. Pull it for a few seconds around 45mph. Do this several times. The shoes can't break in if the brake is only used when the car is stopped. It would be the same as trying to break your new front brakes in by hitting the brakes while sitting at a red light. Mine weren't broken in after 5 years of use until I did this. The brake will become more powerful, you won't have to pull as hard on the lever.
Most drum brakes are self energizing in a forward rotation so they won't be as powerful in reverse. Obviously if you decide to try and break them in, don't lock the rear tires lol.

I had the same problem
I thought maybe it was the ebrake pads wearing out but those should never wear out or have to be replaced unless you somehow drive with the ebrake engaged...for like ever?
Anyways. I had my ebrake adjusted (under the center console) and now its harder to pull up (I used to have to rip it all the way up to the last click to get it to hold the car, and even then I would get a creaking noise)
Now its harder to pull up; I only have to do it about half way; and I get no more creaking. I had someone adjust it so I'm not sure how its done but everyone here on AZ says its easy when I did some research a while ago.
GL!
