OEM decklid spoiler RE-INSTALL
OK..so one of my projects once the weather starts warming up is to reinstall
my OEM decklid spoiler. It was installed at a dealership so they did
use screws/bolts/whatever as well as the 2-sided tape. THing is,
at one end, the 2-sided tape has lost its stickiness so my plan is to take it ALLLLL off and re-mount it with fresh tape.
1. how are the bolts/screws accessible and what type of bolts/screws are they?
2. the risk is 'bending' the spoiler if i start pulling from 1 end..so i figure...heat up the tape with a hairdryer and then run fishing wire from one end to the other underneath it so it rips through the tape and spoiler comes off.
3. then clean trunk with googone/bugtar remover..whatever..as well as under the spoiler.
4. then apply fresh 3m mounting tape or better and re-bolt using same bolts
do-able???

I'd sqay that you a preety good idea of what needs to be done.
Here's some info for bolts, clips:

3M is geat, but make certain you purchase the correct width and reusing the bolts should pose no problem.

I had a similar issue with one end of my OEM spoiler coming up on my '07TLS and the fix was pretty cheap and not a bad job. The dealer will sell you all new plastic clips, retainers, seals etc which should be used on every hole. The parts book shows all the stuff you need. I don't recall the cost but it wasn't too bad. I used 3M "red tape" on both sides as the dealer told me that is what they use. You'll reuse the two metal retainers on the ends of the spoiler but everything else is all new and pretty simple to figure out what goes where.
Most important IMO, is position everything the right way the first time especially the tape when you reinstall. Clean the area well to promote good adhesion for the tape and on the two metal clips don't go crazy in tightening them. I think if you tighten them too much you might cause the ends of the spoiler to come up.
All in all it's not a bad job once you remove the trunk lid liner and see all the clips which are color coded.
