My Trunk Won't Close

So last night I took off the lining of my trunk lid to install LED license plate lights. Tonight after taking some stuff out of my trunk, I closed my trunk and it popped right back up. I take a closer look and there is a spring that fell out of the trunk lock latch. It's a spring with a rubber around it and a loop on each side. Not a very big spring but not too small. It's night out so I can't really see much. From what I see, the lock doesn't pop back when I close the trunk so I have to manually move it just so it catches the hook when closed. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this? I'm looking at the service manual and it's not helping me much. It seems like an easy fix.. I would really hate it if I had to pay a mechanic to fix it.
