My TL is falling apart

I guess this is more of a rant then anything. id love to get pointed in the right direction as far as my problem goes, but anyways, heres whats been bugging me.

Navigation shows an error message for 1 minute whenever I start it up. it says consult the dealer blah blah blah. I just wait it out and it starts. Still a little embarrassing sometimes when I have people. One of my front left speakers is making a high pitched noise. its pretty noticeable whenever, but if I have a CD on loud, and Im switching CD's, you can clearly hear it. if the music is loud though, it kind of drowns it out. My dash is cracking non stop. I really thought the cracking was over, but I just found a new one today working its ways from the dash to the gauges area. My driver mirror has been bugging out. When I put it into reverse, it adjusts properly, but when I put it into drive, it goes insane, and goes to the most top left, and just keeps trying so it makes a popping noise about 6 times till it gives up. my passenger window occasionally needs some help getting up. When I try to put the window up, it goes half way, but then just decides to go back down. usually, I have a passenger who tries to grab the window or just give it a little push to help it to the top. this happens probably on every 1/3 times i put my passenger window down. ive also been reading about PCM problems, and I remember on a road trip, my A/c stopped blowing cold air. thankfully I stopped using my A/c about an hour after. Hopefully there hasnt been any PCM damage. however, I did just get a blinking CEL light the other day while accelerating briskly. Got new plugs (im at 79k miles on original), going to change my oil, and going to seafoam the tl to hopefully take care of that. we'll see. My cruise control button doesnt really work anymore. If I hold it down, I can cruise, but it wont stay clicked in. Im ignoring all the little rattles the car has (the sub one is pretty annoying though), since all cars rattle a little.

I love my TL, and I was planning on keeping it well past 100k (hoping to make it last till 200k), but its been quite a headache. Nothing like when the transmission went insane and broke (but I got a new one and an Extended warrant on it so w00t!). Its all little problems that I can live with, but when they all make themselves apparent in one car ride, it doesn't feel good.

Im done

Mine is a 2007 TL. As for the radio during silence but powered on, do you hear a slight RF hiss and pop? My 2003 RSX always did this in extreme cold temps when the car was parked outside overnight. Same thing with the mirror when really cold outside. Have you tried reconfirming the memory setting for the mirror? Does the passenger mirror behave the same way when you have that side selected when in reverse?

I also agree with the rear deck sub rattle. I also experienced 3 blinks from the CEL when accellerating on the on-ramp. I took it to Autozone and they said no codes were recorded but I just read somewhere on here that tranny soft codes may not be stored.

On your window, sounds like the resistance for the safety finger pinch might indicate the window is experiencing too much resistance. Do you have tint installed? Maybe try some clear silicone on the edges and see if there is some pinching between the felt strip, and clean the glass really good with some cleaner.

Thanks for the first good advice on my thread. I dont hear a pop, but yes, RF hiss fits the description. It actually has been getting cold here in Tampa. Nothing lower then 48F. But cold for florida at the time of the problem. The hiss does go away, as does the mirror problem, usually after ive run the car for a while. I havent tried anything with the memory. the passenger mirror doesnt go down. Is it supposed to? Ive owned this car for a long time, and I never recall it dipping down like the driver side. But if it was broken from when I first got it, well, I might just have never noticed it.

I dont know what the window problem is, but its definitely something rubbing against it. there is usually a visible streak if I dont clean my car, from top to bottom, about an inch thick. I just ignore it and hope it nothing happens.

Anyways, plugs are in the mail. one of my friend has an OBD-2 code reader, so ill finally get to the bottom of that. oil change and foam in store for the TL as well. as long as its still kicking, ill keep it.

What year is your TL?
I have almost double the miles and exactly ZERO of those problems, so I'm thinking either mine is "extra well built", or yours has had kind of a rough life...?

I have an 06 TL. The D-bag who had it before me did not treat the car all that well. Mostly asthetic damage that was fixable, so I cant get too upset about that..... However, I did have a hook up at the dealership and he hit me with the service records at the dealership before I bought the car as well as gave me the old owners phone number so I could contact him and ask the all important question, " Why did you trade yours in?..... Long story short the car looks better than the day I took it off of the used lot at Las Vegas Acura and I could not be happier about the car.... I hate to hear that yours is in bad shape and I hope that it does not change your opinion about Acura as a whole. Oh, and cracks in the dash.... I read about that in a great thread in here a couple months back.... as well as the white mess that appears on our dashboards over time......

Well, you can't polish a turd. Just kidding. My TL is bar far more refined than my 95 Grand Cherokee although the seats were ten times more comfortable in the jeep. This car however more refined it is, is not without it's defects. Your sounds like it has the whole gamut. That said although being a vastly more reliable vehicle than I have owned and on spirited days a thrill to drive, I would have bought another vehicle if I knew about the TL's issues before hand.

Damn hindsight.

since i got my 2004 TL i have had nothing but problems. i'd go through the whole rant but not typing it all.

i did notice that 2006+ brought along a nice slew of updates/changes.

well i traded in for the EX35 so i can't complain. tho i do know plenty of ppl who did NOT have problems on their 3G so i don't know what to say. bad luck? bad year?

god my headliner problem alone was ridiculous

My TL has a pretty easy life. most of its miles are highway miles. but highway doesn't = no problems. My tranny began failing on the highway. luckily I made it to my driveway before it completely pooped out on me.

No way am I going to give up on my TL. ive got a few repairs in store (once i can find the parts)
-cruise control buttom fix
-clean/change driver mirror motor
-take apart door panel to check for abnormalities/ maybe replace reg?
-Clean disk -> New Disk -> New dvd reader?

I can deal with with aesthetic problems like the dash, but when my car doesn't function properly, I get a little annoyed

No one answered my question though. Is the passenger mirror supposed to dip down when you put it in reverse?

It's either/or on the mirrors - you get to pick - whichever side the little switch is slid over to, that's the side that goes down in reverse. Leave it in the middle, neither one dips.

Window Problem

I just brought my 07 TL to the dealer because of the window problem you mentioned. After keeping it all day, they told me that it needs a new regulator and that it will take three days to get it. The service tech cited a bulletin on the problem.

Mine is falling apart too. I had two batteries die in 44,000 miles, and now the damn thing won't even start among many other problems. I'm getting rid of my TL soon. I thought this would be the first car besides my ford escort that I would have for over 100,000 miles, but I guess not. I'm really starting to regret my purchase.

It's rare that I will come the the defense of this car but I think you have a ground problem or something electrical. It's been a reliable car for me if anything.

Check your alternator.

Check the HFL before anything else, they are known to kill batteries when they die....rare for a denso alt to go bad
