Question My battery dies EVERY day... Help PLEASE!!!

Okay so here's the deal. As of late when I transfer from my wheel chair, disassemble my chair and put it in the front seat in this heat, I turn the key for it to auto repeat start (07-08 models have this) sounding like a machine gun. I took the car into Acura and the battery is good, Ugh!!! They now think its a faulty HFL module.

My question: Have you guys ever had a similar issue and was the cause the HFL or something different? Thank you so much for your helpful comments and/or insight.

They'll repair it free even with my warranty being expired. Between my mom an I since I was 16 we purchase a car almost yearly so they take a little better care of us than a normal customer :-). Not bragging, I'm just opining on how thankful I am to Stevenson Honda/Acura.

Okay I'm done rambling...

Yep it's usually the HFL but they better do a draw test to make sure.

More than likely the HFL. Perhaps you can get them to throw in a fresh battery since that one has been drained repeatedly.

Multiple years of HFL units were subject to a couple of TSBs for failing to power down after 30 minutes. Most of the threads here about drained batteries originated with bad HFL units.

The most exception is if it's the OEM battery that's more than 4 years old-- they can pass the testing, but still die continually due to a bad cell.

Thank you all for your assistance. I'll swing by there again in the next few days after the severe weather moves out the area. Anyone occupy a copy of the TSB for the HFL issues? BTW my battery is only a year old. As of late the HFL disconnect/reconnects to my phone a lot.

Question

So i have an 05 tl 85k miles, after being at school for 6 hours i go to turn it on and the lights came on so i didn't think anything bad BUT i go to turn the ignition and it only clicks while the interior lights dim...

NOT the first time this has happened, happened a few weeks ago after i got back from vacation and now again, COULD this be an HFL issue or i was thinking alternator????

... (and what is HFL)

There is a separate TSB for 2004 models as well, but yours is subject to TSB 07-050 (Service manual update: troubleshooting the HFL) and TSB 08-057 (HFL doesn't work and hard start/no start).
All the TSBs are throught the 3G Service Dept./Garage at: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/.
Follow the instructions at the top of the thread to open and view the TSBs.

First, how old is the battery? If the battery is OEM or more than four years old, it's most likely a dead/dying battery. Your battery can be tested, BTW. A dead battery is the most common culprit for your TL's symptoms.

Second, check the battery cables-- the positive clamp tends to loosen up, and cables tend to corrode if not maintained occasionally.

Third, the Hands Free Link(HFL), i.e. Bluetooth unit located within the moonroof switch/map light console might not go to sleep, but continues to draw power more than a half hour after the ignition is switched off. That's similar to the subject of TSB 05-020 and is more common than a bad alternator.

G/L.

thanks for the heads up and to be honest i am not to sure if its more then a few years old but ill go in and have it taken a look at.

I got a jump and let it run for about an hour before turning it off just now so hopefully that stays okay untill i manage to see whether or not it is indeed just a bad battery or get a better look, thanks for the quick response!

Okay guys it looks like it wasn't my HFL. Whats interesting is that i dont know what was the issue as it hasnt done it since i posted after those multiple times. I changed up on thing. Maybe this did it. I leave my headlight switch on the "on" position vs. "auto" so at night i had better visability when approaching the car (unlocking door turns headlights on) or leaving (locking doors turns off the headlights). I started leaving them on auto and its solved my troubles. Now still the battery should go dead after the headlight are kept on for 5min after i turn off the engine. So I'm lost but until the trouble occurs, i'm not gonna waste time at Acura to fish for something that maybe nothing for now...
