Hello all,

This is my first posting because I need some help. Last weekend I parked my car in West LA and I think what happened was some drunk kids went car stomping and ran all up on my hood, sunroof, and roof. They left dents in the roof and broke my sunroof (not cracked but it wont roll back now).

Question...

1) How do I remove the interior lining on the roof in the rear?
2) Does Acura warranty cover this or will insurance just pick it up? If so is there any penalty to me?
3) Has anyone gotten PDR (paintless dent removal) and if so is it a viable option?
4) Unrelated but...is it possible to get Navi in your car if you purchased one without one? Acura dealerships tell me no...

Sorry to hear from you under these conditions.
1) I wouldn't remove roof liner at this point, since you will soon have repairs made, including on roof.
2) Repairs would be made through your insurance (probably under the comprehensive coverage, as vandalism), unless this happened in someone's secured parking lot or valet lot.
3) Other posters might be able to tell you, but they will need photos. The best opinions will come from the insurance adjuster, repair shop, or a paintless dent removal shop which actually see your car.
4) Yes, conversion can be done, but not by the Acura dealer. There are a couple of threads in the "Audio, Bluetooth..." subforum. A couple of other 3G TL owners have done the conversion and described their efforts.
Hope your TL doesn't need much work to bring it back to new.

It is pretty scary to see the TL with it's roof removed and the front clip prepped for re-painting.

This is definetly going to be an expensive repair ($5000-$6000) so you should call your insurance company as well as the police for a report. Since it is not vehicular accident, I dont think it will affect your rates. You should call your insurance to verify.

You should not remove the liner since the professionals will do that.

 

What the hell? Do kids these days run over cars for fun or something?
Let a bodyshop do the repair.

I seesawed about whether to go through insurance and decided just to go out of pocket. Didn't get a chance to snap photo's of it but I can attest that my car is back to it's original shape.
