Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit

Hey guys, just wanted to post a quick review of this kit. The UV coating finally started to come off of my 2007 TL at the end of last year, and my 3M Perfect-It buffing compound wasn't cutting it. I saw and ad for this Meguiar's kit and bought it today at Advance Auto for around $40.

Simply put, this kit rocks. Just follow the instructions and your headlights will look brand new again, serious.

This is the kit I bought...

Meguiar's 2-Step Headlight Restoration Kit Sanding and Polishing System G3000: Advance Auto Parts

There is no way to overstate how awesome the results are, and pictures don't even come close to doing them justice.

Some iPhone before and after shots.

This is my passenger headlight assembly, but the driver's side looked identical.

This is my driver's side after using the kit.

The sides of my headlights were the worst, so I took some pix of that too.

Here's the shot from my pro camera, but it doesn't really show the difference as good because of the angle/light.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

Nice! I used this kit, too and then had them clear-coated at the shop to make it LAST.

Clearing them won't make them last, only a new UV coating will, which is why I'll be selling these soon to buy new ones.

what he said, get them clear coated with a paint that has UV protectant in it (clear coat is paint with no pigment). 3-5 well applied layers will do the trick nicely.

Try putting a coat of car wax with UV protectant on your headlamps. That will protect them too.

Wow, that's awesome! I used Mother's Headlight Restoration Kit on my family's 2003 Toyota Sequoia, looked good at first but didn't satisfy me. I have heard nothing but good things about Meguiar's kit, so I'll be trying that out soon! This thread made me less hesitant as well.

Awesome job, OP.

After inspecting the headlights a thinking about it a bit, I think a 1200 pad instead of a 1000 pad would have worked better for the thick UV coating of the TL, and could have cut down on the work. I think 3000 would still cut the 1200 scratches too. I'll get a few more pads to check it out for sure.
