Major rattles from hand brake area/ possibly transmission 04 auto tran
 

Was just on the highway earlier today and noticed some major rattling sound coming from the hand brake area. I hear it at all speeds except below 4 mph. It sounds like a consistent gear churning, and other times it is more of a random sound, akin to a bolt being loose and bouncing around. When I touch the hand brake, the rattle seems to be focusing through there but do not know for sure. I am concerned there will be major bills assosciated with these new problems, but would something like this be covered under warrant if it indeed is hand brake related vs transmission? I understand here in canada there is a drivetrain warrant up to 100,000. I have 67,000 kms on the car ('04 AT)

Any one else experience what i just described?

anyone got input on this at all? Would hand brake problems be covered? Full warranty is now over, now its just the major components.

issue resolved today by my mechanic. The cable for the hand brake cable came loose inside the brake housing on the back left wheel and was making a whole bunch of racket not just outside the car, but it would vibrate the cable all the way back to the hand brake lever inside the car. Thats what I misunderstood as being a tranny issue.
