I have an 07 tl with black leather interior it is very clean, but when it gets hot outside my wife says it smells. This is not the first tl that she has said that about. When I was looking for this car she mentioned it about a couple other tls. Anyone else notice the smell and what can I do about it?

In all seriousness, I have no idea what you are talking about. My 07 TL Base smells great. I don't know do they use different leather for the Type-S?

 

She may have a particularly sensitive nose, or not like the smell of certain leathers and/or plastics.

Does she have complaints about any non-Honda/Acura cars?

There is a good possibility she is smelling a musty smell from the A/C ... the condensor can get mildew in it and smell a little funky.

1Z puts aout a spray product that will eliminate it .. other sprays like Lysol just mask it for a while .

use a really good leather cleaner and conditioner. give this product a try and see if it solves your problem. this product is wayy better than those mainstream meguiars and lexol brand cleaners your parts store sell.

hmn.. Not sure what funny leather smell you talkin' about either. Only time I noticed a bit of a leather smell was when I first took the car off the the stealers showroom. After a several weeks the smell diminished. Might be some carpet cleaner that some dealers use so shampoo your carpets and see if she complains less. Unless she is trying to hint you to buy her another car like the M3 lol. If so get rid of her hahah. Just messin'.

 

use the vent cleaner as said
open the center arm consoles rear vent so air can escape from there

dyed leather will smell if you leave the windows closed when parked and its hot,
Do you run the ac on recirc air all the time???

 

Change your cabin air filter.

Does it smell a little like curry? I have noticed in several Acura's a slightly strange smell like leather mixed with something else almost smells like curry or something. I happen to be driving a friends car which is an Acura CL right now and it smells a little like curry... and NOO, they are not Indian... My boss has a 2001 Acura CL and that smelled exactly the same so it must be either the way the leather is dyed or its the leather smell mixed with plastic smell or something like that... Some cars just smell weird, like BMW's smell strange inside and so do VW's also have a strange unique smell, so I guess it is just what you get when you buy that brand of car... I have never noticed anything but leather smell in Infiniti cars though so those smell like straight up leather and nothing else.
