Cool IVE GOT MY ACURA @ the dealership...

and ive got my whole tranny torn apart because of the 3rd gear issue alot of people are dealing with right now. Luckily i got an extended warranty and it was all free. But my service tech called me reccommending a clutch replacement...stating my pressure plate has alot of wear on it and more then likely my flywheel needed 2 be replaced. Well @ that point knowing how dealerships love 2 stick it to you i proceeded 2 call my personal technician. I let him know the situation and he also said that because i had 50,000 miles on my car and they already have the tranny pulled apart i shoul go ahead and @ least get the whole clutch kit replaced not including the flywheel because thats so darn expensive. I wanted to get all you acura owners opinions to see what i should do. (sorry ahead of time if i was suppose to post this somewhere else...first time poster long time reader)

thats better than another member that had the clutch blow at 14k miles, right after he bought it~

They should have a skills and intelligence test required to drive cars like this, and not put 17 year olds in a 6 speed IMO

Dude, getting the clutch and flywheel done know is the best thing you can do. The car is going to shift like day one. You never want to have your car taken apart more than it has too. Let us know how it shifts when you get it back.

Sounds reasonable since the clutch is ~$300 and the flywheel is $600. Personally I'd skip the main rear seal unless it is leaking, the concern I would have is replacing it and the new seal leaking if it is improperly installed. However if the flywheel is off there is never a better time to replace one.

Sorry to read about clutch abuse.

So ive got good news and bad news....the good news is i got my car back . Along with fixing the recalls on my car plus the third gear and of course my clutch and flywheel they also hooked me up with a nice cleaning job on my car, an alignment )which it looked like it was a good idea), and also a new battery. Id say thats a dealership taking care of you. BUT!....lol i thought it felt like it went way to smooth and perfect. I left the dealership and WOW what a difference a fresh clutch will do for you. the difference between night and day AMAZING. but yea....for the bad news. So i get off the freeway and finally hit a stop light. the light turns green i depress the clutch and TRY to put it in first and it wont go in >:-/...WTF! but i figured hmm it must have been my fault. so i didnt think nothing of it. but of course it HAPPEN AGAIN @ the next light. So now my first gear wont ingauge. I try to throw it in first and it will not go in @ all! ive gotta ethier push really hard to get it in (which obviosuly isnt good) or put it back in neutral and try again while the drivers behind me are honking there horns like crazy! I knew the dealership was 2 good 2 be true. i called my sales rep and of course he was gone for the day but i left him a voicemail letting him know about my first gear and to get back 2 me asap!. this isnt a normal probem when u first get your new clutch right???? is this just a technicians malfunction??

I can't get the TSB up on that, but they were supposed to replace the clutch too for free to my knowledge. I don't have a copy of it though
