Hello,
I just purchased my first Acura TL, it's a 2004 automatic with navigation. I obviously purchased it used (from a nissan dealer) and it comes with no manual although I am borrowing the one my friend has with his 2007 S-type.
My issue deals with the keyless entry of the car. For some reason the pervious owner installed an aftermarket keyless entry fob "Scosche" brand, the remote works horriably it doesn't unlock the trunk for some reason and and unlock sometimes does not respond. I also noticed that the front passenger door is not locking. If I hold the unlock button too long the windows open slightly ( I know thats a factory feature like my old MW).
My question for you helpful TL drivers is should I purchase the OEM remotes (Id prefer) and if so how should I go about doing so? and if I go OEM can I purchase an switchblade key like my friend has his 2007?


my concern is that the aftermarket keyless entry was installed because the factory one might not be working.

Ps. I have looked throughout the forums before I posted to make sure that no one has had the same problem, but it seems to be unique, If not please direct to me to the proper post.

I'm not sure why the aftermarket FOB was installed. But I'd also switch back to OEM. Yes, you can get the switchblade type. I wanna say our vendor MrHeelToe carries them. Perhaps others can chime in with more info. These threads may help:
