I see another tranny failure in my future..

RPM needle started jumping without any acceleration. Pulled over and tried to move the car but it wouldn't budge. Car jerked a little as if the ebrake was on. Let the car sit for 15 minutes and afterwards drove fine. Able to make it home. Had to drive 3 hours since I was in the middle of the desert at about 4am. When I check the ATF fluid level the fluid gave off a strong burnt smell. Is this the start of the ending? Also keep an out for my part out thread.

yikes, good luck. My mother's odyssey has a rebuilt transmission but it's not 100%. On inclines the RPMs flare between shifts and slips.

So just to clarifly I am on a rebuilt tranny. Its still under warranty. The RPM needle spiked while on a steep incline. I didn't even know there was a new OEM fluid. Is it supposed to be better than the old Z1?

The new fluid (DW1) is supposed to be much better than the old Z1. I'd take your car ASAP to acura and have them look at it, esp if it's under warranty!

The tranny went at 58,000 and they wouldn't honor the powertrain warranty because of the supercharger. I asked about swapping out the fluid and Acura told me that would do more damage at this point. Since its rebuilt I have it covered under warrantly at a shop in the Bay Area. How does the DW1 fluid compare to some of the aftermarket fluids like Amsoil or Redline?

The new oem fluid does miracles literally...!...car runs smoother instantly, plenty of friends of mines have switched and has eliminated slipping.....I've used it myself also on my old 05tl.......

Change it!...don't put anything else, even if they valid your warranty and fix it,make sure you put only oem fluid

I use to have an accord that use to slip like crazy on those universal ATF fluids...changed it to oem before it was to late....

it's on them to prove that the supercharger is at fault (it isn't btw). Press them hard on it......

I fought it to the end but they wouldn't budge. Their claim was that the supercharger caused more torque than what the tranny was designed to handle. But any performance mod would increase torque Anyway ended up paying to get it rebuilt out of pocket.

I had good success back in the day by taking everything off my Civic, and bringing it back to the dealer.

Again, they have to PROVE it. they can say whatever, but they have to actually PROVE it. They can't prove it becuase they know tthat trans failures are design related and not power related. The gears and clutches in the 5at are very good but when they are not properly lubricated, they overheat and fail.

Damn 162k. Thats impressive. I'm curious about the new fluid also. First step is removing the SC though.

Afraid not, they can just void the warranty, which in this case was the correct thing to do. The owner modified the vehicle from stock form by putting on a SC. Big 3 (Ford, GM & Dodge) have been voiding warranties for years on many diesel pick-up's due to owners adding HP/torque upgrades.

I understand what you're saying but back when I bought the car, Acura of Las Vegas on W. Sahara sold and installed superchargers. The ONLY reason I didn't get it installed there was because of their labor rate. But seems a little silly that they would sell and install your SC and then void your warranty because of it.

Obviously the dealership made the decision to sell and install SC, Honda/Acura who gives the approval for warranty work would never approve of this. Think it through, you have altered the vehicle to make more HP and torque, you broke your car and now you want them to cover under warranty.....nice try, you deserve to be denied warranty service.
