I got in an accident
So I drive a 2004 Acura TL. I recently got in an accident and want to know what it might cost to fix it. I have to pay for the damages myself and want to know how much it would cost to fix it at a dealership.
The only damage is to the front drivers door and the driver side fender.

New fender is not much.
It's the door panel that will suck money.
People on here will tell you the same thing I will: go to a body shop and get an estimate.
Don't bother going to the dealer to repair it unless you have a lot of extra cash you want to spend.

I'd personally start looking at autowreckers for a used fender and door. Take them to a body shop and have them install and paint everything. It's likely your cheapest bet.

I will man, thanks. Now I just have to look for a decent body shop, but that shouldn't be too hard

So my friends dad works at a body shop and he says it would be around $3000 for total repairs, does this sound right?

$3000 seems right, maybe $1500 in parts, plus paint and labor.
Try and get a used door $100/$300 as the OEM shell is @ $1000 list and the skin @ $400 is too much of a problem with the rip. As long as the used door doesn't require much body work, then the shop will save on transferring the door components to the new unit. Fender used $50/$200 or OEM $400 list.
Good luck
