Question How to get rid of heavy oxidation

I just received an 04 Acura Tl as a gift and I wanted to know if anyone knows how to remove heavy oxidation from the paint. Please be specific on what you used and if possible before and after pics. Thanks!

that is some heavy oxidation! Based on it's location and how it is, it's not factory paint. The other areas like the trunk look perfect!

You are going to have to use a polish/compound that's abrasive to remove a micro layer of paint off.

My recommendation would be something like Optimum Compound followed up with optimum polish

OR
Meguiars M105 followed by M205.

You'll get way better results with a random orbital buffer rather than by hand, but hand will get the job done.

The key is to prevent it from coming back. Make sure you seal the paint 1x month with a good sealant such as Blackfire Wet Diamond or Zaino Z-2/Z-5, opti-coat, etc.

Thanks for the advice, I will try using the meguiars m105 to see if it works.

You'll need to follow up with M205 to remove the haze from the M105. I would first start with the less abrasive M205 anyway!

ok here are the before and after on my lexus. In your case you will have to wet sand with 1500 to 2000 and 3000 grid sand paper (becareful not to take the whole clear coat off) the oxidation prior to buffing. After that using a DA in my case I used one from Meguiars pro, buff with a micro pads (most aggressive cutting pads) first then slowly going into red pad (buffing/cutting) using M105 on the first buff then transition into M205 and finish it off with polishing compound and wax to seal the new paint off. PS I would try the micro fiber pads before wet sanding.

be careful with that stuff as if you are too hard, off comes the clear coat and then you are really boned.
