Hood stabilizers are GONE after two years.
I've had my 08 Type-S since Feb of 2008. A few days ago, my hood stopped being able to stay up on its own. I've put less than 20k on the car.
Took it to the dealer and they told me that my hood stabilizers have gone bad (one was leaking oil). Of course, they're being fixed under warranty, but it looks like Honda sub-contracted that part to an outside company, and that company did some shoddy work. The dealer told me it's a common failure on 3G TLs.
Go check your hood stabilizers and make sure they aren't leaking oil. If they are, take them to the dealer and have them fixed.

I still have the OEM one's on my 04 and they are holding up like champs! I don't think I've heard of more than one other hood strut failure like yours...

Mine are cool on my '06 @ 66k. I'm sure a lot of manufacturers sublet these things out.
