High pitch squeal/squeak?
Hi everyone, I searched but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. I have an '06 MT TL with 75K miles. When I start the car, I can hear a high pitched squeal or squeak pulse about 10-15 times per second. I thought it was a belt but now I noticed that when I even just barley push (about 1 inch) the clutch in, that it goes away. It does change with the RPM as well. So I'm wondering if it is the clutch or just a squeak somewhere that a slight pressure on the pedal is muffling. Any ideas? Thanks

Anyone? Here, I posted a video of it. Sorry for the bare feet (you know some people hate feet) but I'm too lazy to reshoot it. You can hear it immediately then when I press on the clutch, it goes away.

Pretty sure squeaks that go away when pushing in the clutch are usually related to the throw-out bearing. I assume the TL has one? Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

This. Throwout bearings will go out. I haven't heard one squeak before, but there is that possibility. They usually make an ugly low grinding noise. It makes most sense because the noise goes away when you press down on the clutch and it changes with RPM.

Incredible, my 05 6MT with 96k has been making a pulley squeak sound for the last few weeks and was worried it was something with the timing belt but the sound was not coming from that side of the engine, after reading this post just now I ran out and tried putting the clutch in and sure enough, the squeak went away. Can any one else confirm that the throw out can squeak like that?

-Start by applying grease between the tip of the slave cylinder and the release fork. This may be caused by the end of the release fork vibrating.
-If this doesn't solve the problem, it's probably the release (also called throw-out) bearing.
