Help!! Transmission not engaging on my '05 TL (auto transmission)

the other day while i was driven out of town (after 3 hours of driving) my transmission fluid spill from the top. and then it started to give up, i accelerate but the car wont move, i let it cool down for about 10 m and it will engage again for a while, until it totally wont engage anymore, the rpms will go up but the car wont move an inch not even on reverse, i added more fluid about 2 qrts and a lucas but still nothing, i dont think a burn the trans since i never smell any burning odors o there was never smoke coming out of it. any ideas what can possible be? will i need a new trans?? is an automatic transmission by the way

any malfunction indicator lights? Flashing "D". Stored error codes? Start saving for a rebuild on the tranny! I assume your out of warranty?

you need a transmission rebuild. transmission got hot enough to boil the fluid and cause it to spill out. Same thing happened to my mom's van. It'll work when it cools off only for a short while before it starts slipping again.

Yikes! A lot of transmission is failing very soon and a lot of member is reporting. I'm very worried and I'm about to shell $800 to replace power steering rack and pinion and I hope my transmission doesn't fail.

i'm a new 05 tl at owner... i noticed that when i was breaking that the engine automatically down shifted and the revs went up when i wasn't in sport mode... are these tell tale signs of motor mounts/ tranny problems??

could be just the torque converter. I had this happen where if the torque converter gets hot and pressure build up its released fluid. Had the torque converter replaced and the shop said 2 valves in the transmission needed to unstuck, and the trans mounts replaced. Now it is like new.

That is the grade logic program working and is normal. It increases engine braking when your going downhill or braking.
