Help. Something wrong with gas?

I just filled up a full tank. My gauge says i have 1/4 tank and it reads zero on the range. whats up with that??

Sounds like it could be a sending unit issue. Were you at 1/4 tank when you filled up?

i was on empty. it gradually went up to full tank over 30 minutes of driving but the range still says zero

I'm guessing that the fuel level sensor is going a bit haywire. Have you ever run fuel cleaner through the gas tank? Do you use premium fuel?

BMW has been having a very similar problem and the issue is that something in the fuel coats the sensor over time, and using a fuel cleaner such as Redline SC-1, BMW Fuel Cleaner or Techron will clean most of it off and fix it. -> This was issued to dealers after quite a few decided to replace the whole darn fuel sending unit that cost BMW upwards of 2K in warranty work per car!

inside your fuel thank have a floater, it is damage or is worn. replace with new unit as directed.
