Help installing wheel spacers (w/pics)

What's up guys? I recently bought some 15mm H&R wheel spacers for the front and rear. I already installed the rear and got stuck while attempting the front. Here is were I ended up....

From what I understand, I have to remove the bearing when separating the hub from the knuckle. If I do, I have to replace the bearing and use a press to install the new one. I'm trying to avoid taking it to a dealer. They quoted me 300.

My question is... Is there any other way of installing the new studs without having to remove the bearings?

No other way. Got to press it out, new bearing etc. Just don't ruin the ball joint or tie rod end when taking it apart.
A real PIA job just to install spacers.

I wanted to install spacers on my 2007TLS because of a wheel change and wheel clearance for the Brembo calipers and the dealer quoted $900 and I supply parts and sign a liability waiver. Honda dealer wanted $500 with a waiver Big O tires in Phoenix would do it for $600 and these numbers are for all four wheels. As far as I know you can't get the OE studs out without disassembling the hubs so I am told and that changed my mind on using spacers.

Good luck, I understand it is a PIA job.

Wheel spacers do go over stock studs, but if the spacer is too big, then there won't be enough stock stud to safely grab the lugnut and hold the wheel on, so you need extended studs, which is what the OP appears to be doing here.

OP, have you considered getting something like the project kics spacers?

If you're running a minimum of 15mm, then this is probably the most cost effective option.

^so Im a spacer noob....I bought ichiba v1 10mm spacers for the front and rear. They dont have the studs built in. I bought them so my wheels will clear my front and rear bbk.

Would the v2 have been the wiser choice since the studs are built into the spacer? Then you can just slide the spacer in front of the rotor and bolt the wheel back on???

Do you seriously have to remove the hub to change the studs? On every car I've ever changed the studs on (all of which were a front wheel on a FWD car), you simply rotated the stud assembly until the stud lined up with a cutout in the hub plate behind it, to allow you to use a hammer to punch out the old stud, and insert a new one...

The V2 Kit is the one with the built in studs, but again, the minimum on this is 15mm, so if you want a 10mm, then you're kind of up shit's creek becasue you can't run it on stock studs becasue they're too short, but you can't take swap the studs out easily, and it's too short of a spacer to be able to buy it with built in studs.

10mm is not friendly to our cars it would appear.

That is ususally the case...but we can thank Acura for making this more difficult than it should be...

I'm not sure if there's a spot on that splash guard that maybe you can grind away enough material to do that, but even then, I'm not sure what's behind it...

I'd stick with Ichiba, H&R, Project Kics, Mackin Ind, etc for spacers with studs. You know the QA there is top notch.

Sorry for the late response guys.

Basically, mglax13 is right. On this car, the hub must be separated from the knuckle to replace the studs...at least when doing it the proper way. He mentioned about grinding down the splash guard. That's exactly what I did. I cut a small piece off from the splash guard enough to fit the stud through. Then I grinded down a bit off of the knuckle. Knocked all the studs through the same slot and installed the new ones. I now have all my spacers installed.... Did the work on Sunday and it took me about 5 hrs.

Thx for the responses though.

Hey Houston, which tools did you use for that little fabrication job? I'm planning on doing this same job Sunday using 10 mm spacers and hope to be able to do what you did.
