Whining noise only when accelerating from stop
Hello i am new to this forum so excuse me if im in the WRONG place.
i have a 2005 Acura TL with navigation. AUTOMATIC (Not the S model)
when the car is turned on just idling, it doesn't make the whining sound. When i turn the steering steering wheel, no odd noises.
only when you shift into drive and begin to move forward, it begins to make a whining aound that seems to go higher jn pitch and lower in volume at the same time. At every gesr shift, the noise gets higher pitch but quieter, then eventually while maybe in 4-5 the sound goes away.
it does the opposite when slowing down, the whining returns again chaning in pitch and volume as i slow to 0mph, and then idle continues to be quiet. 125 thousand + miles

tough to tell....can you upload a video with sound so that we can hear what is going on?

check the color of the trans fluid, should be a pinkish red. If it's brown it could be burnt or very bad causing lack of lubrication and the whine.

Check your power steering pump. Mine needs to be replaced and makes a wining noise when I don’t have enough ps fluid. It’s leaking somewhere which leaked on my water pump and corroded the gasket on it which had caused that to fail.

If you suspect the power steering pump, then check your car for recall status. Acura issued a recall on hoses and the O ring is a known problem.
Again, do a search on Google or even better, here. There are many threads on power steering issues that are easy repair or recalls....don't pay a dealer blind.
