These HIDs get "pink eye" before they go out completely. 99% chance it's the bulb. Mine went from a light pink to dark purple in two days before I could replace it.

You're going to love trying to replace them. I tried my best not to but I had to partially remove the front bumper.
Also, make sure you have a torx ready. I can't remember the size. I think it was a 15 but I might be wrong. It's the "security" torx with the little dimple in the middle so you will have to get that specific one.

I just did my headlights this weekend. Pain in the butt. Search up "3g tl headlight w/o bumper removal" and there's a DIY with pics.
To get the cover for teh bulbs out, its a Torx 20. But don't go get a regular set of Torx, like ihatecars mention its a security torx. I bought a set of Torx screwdriver and ended up using a small flat head.
I had alot of trouble getting the bulb in place so i took off the front bumper. Its hella easier, but takes a little more time.

Tl has no bright lights, only a reflector that moves to make the light shine higher. You should be able to hear this reflector move when you flash the brights. Turn the light on with the engine off. Then hit the brights with the hood up and you should hear a click. If not, check the plug at the light, the reflector plug may not be hooked up.

HID bulbs go by hours used, not by ,mileage. The more you use your headlights, the faster they will burn out. I'm not sure the average lifespan of a bulb, I think it's around 3,000 hours of use I believe. It also depends on the kind of bulb you use. Cheap aftermarket bulbs tend to go quicker than OEM based bulbs.
