Harsh shift into 4th gear?

I just have a quick question for you guys. I just bought a 2007 TL Base with 61k miles on it, I recently did a 3x3 drain and fill with Honda DW-1 fluid. the fluid is about halfway between the dots on the stick. I also replaced the 3rd gear and 4th gear pressure switches.

The car definitely shifts better and smoother, but for some reason 4th gear seems really grabby. Like it lurches the car forward briefly when it engages. Have you guys heard or experienced this? Any ideas? It shifts fast, its just grabby. As if the throttle isn't being closed while the gear is engaging. The other gears seem to be fine when they engage.

Is this normal or is there something going on?

Are you sure its 4th, and not the torque converter lockup? I'm not really sure how the AT in the TL behaves, I never drove one. Not really much to do about it. If it shifts alright, has new fluid and switches, just drive it.

It happens around 30-35 mph, so its too early for 5th gear.

Sure hope its not time for a new trans! Do I need to add more fluid to fill it to the top dot? Or maybe this is normal behavior.

Waiting on I hate cars to chime in

I would have to go with ZOMGVTEK on this one.

Have you tried shifting it manually to see exactly which gear does this? One mistake just about everyone makes when diagnosing a transmission, especially the mechanics is to drive it harder than normal. Many automatic transmisison problems happen at light throttle when line pressure is the lowest. Just wanted to throw that out there first.

So shift it manually by hand giving about the same amount of throttle you always do and at the same rpm it normally shifts at. This should tell you which gear you're in when it does it and whether or not it does it when shifting into gear or when the torque converter clutch (TCC) application is causing it.

For what it's worth I have no lurching but under light throttle I can feel a slight surge when the converter locks, especially in the lower gears.

If it happens to be a bumpshift on the 3-4 shift, you can try a drain and refill with Type F fluid.

Did it have this problem before the switch and fluid change?

I think I got it narrowed down, its more of a hot/cold issue. It seems to shift more harshly when the fluid is cold, but once the trans warms up it feels "normal" again. It was a cold week last week and I took some short trips, so I guess the car never had a chance to warm up. I went on a longer drive today and it definitely started shifting easier by the time I got to my destination.
