Gear Noise and Exhaust Growl

I'm new to this board, however I've been lurking since I bought my 05 about 4 months ago. The TL replaced my 02 Chrysler 300M which I thought was a pretty good car in its day. A couple things I noticed about the TL is that it seems to have some ring and pinion noise and a resonance in the exhaust. When driving on level road with just a little bit of torque in the driveline, there seems to be a little gear whine that shouldn't be present in an upscale car like an Acura. I'm not sure if it's characteristic of these cars or maybe I just got a "Friday Transmission". Anyone else got a whining automatic ?

Also it seems like the exhaust has some resonance around 1800 RPM in OD. The cats on this car are integral to the exhaust manifold. I almost wonder if there's too much vibration right at the engine that causes the cat cores resonate.

I like my TL but I think the Noise,Vibration and Harshness(NVH) could be better on this car. My wife's GMC Envoy has zero gear noise and zero exhaust resonance even after beating it to death with my 6000 pound camper !

I think the auto trans car have various vibration and noise tendanacies.
Ring and pinion noise is a new one though..

Our 6 speed manual trans car is very smooth and quiet under all situations, I think
acura changed the exhaust slightly on the manual cars.

Mine had excessive gear whine and so the transmission was replaced.

The new transmission still has some gear whine but not nearly as loud as the last one.

I think its just something we have to live with. I think the exhaust sounds fine. I like the sound actually.
