Smile Garage door opener not working intermittently

My 04 TL's garage door opener has been having troubles in recent months. It doesn't open the garage door reliably any more. I would say out of 10 trys, it works maybe about 3-4 times. It didn't have this issue before. for comparison, my other cars a lexus IS and 14 odyssey are almost working 100% just as the original remote came with the door opener. I tried to clear the memory and reprogram. don't think that make a difference. anyone out there got better ideas what to try next?

RF is a strange beast. All transmitters are different and the different cars' shapes and sizes have an effect on how the signal gets transmitted. Did you move things around in your garage? How consistently does it work if you're parked in the garage already? That would be the best way to determine if it's an issue with the TL or with the signal path.

it works 100% of time if the car is inside the garage. problem is when the car is coming in on the driveway, it often fails to open.

Maybe check the antenna on the garage door opener?

Here's a thread with the same issue. It looks like one of the members had theirs replaced and it seemed to improve performance. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rdx-problems-fixes-409/homelink-sometimes-doesnt-work-877450/

yep. seems the same. I'll just have to keep a backup remote opener in the car. it's at 154k. not spending more money on it if absolutely necessary.
