Front grille trim help

The "metal" looking trim around the front grille of my '06 TL has a lot of markings on it that look like water spots that I am trying to remove. I bought the car last October, and these markings began appearing during the harsh Massachusetts winter. Nothing I do seems to remove these spots. Has anybody else encountered this problem, and if so how did you fix it? This is my first car so I am kinda anal in keeping it in good condition. I will try to provide pictures once I am able to later on today. Thanks in advance.

use mothers metal/mag/alimunim polisher stuff you find at the auto store, (its a little red can and the product itself is white) its a light abrasive that will remove the water marks of the front upper frill, i use it all the time

Thanks guys, I will try that out.

Here is a picture so others can see exactly what I am talking about. Just look at all the water marks and the rust looking spots.
