Fourth Power Steering Rack Leak

I have a 2006 6MT with 127k. My power steering rack started leaking today. This is especially odd since this rack is maybe 3 months old and the fourth rack that has leaked in the last year. It's therefore under warranty with the shop, but I can't figure out why this is happening.

Could it be that these have all been defective units? Is the mechanic installing them wrong? Could another component be causing the leaks? The pump is new as well.

Any ideas?

I got the car back today. Mechanic said all the racks have leaked from the passenger's side.

the power steering pump is on the front passenger side, make sure that it's not leaking and tricking down. Can you post a picture of the leak? Perhaps the PS pump you have is putting out too much pressure!

My 04 6MT started slowly leaking on the driver's side inner tie rod boot at about 110K. Did you go with OEM or remanufactured, if so do you know if a rack from an auto fits on a 6MT? I'm really broke right now and trying to do this cheap as possible.

I already had it fixed. The leak was in the rack. The pump was replaced not long ago. Good thought about the pressure though. I'll mention it to my mechanic.

Remanufactured. The rack is the same for both AT and MT. It's not a cheap job though. Get quotes, bit find a mechanic who's done it before.

According to Honda parts #s the racks for auto and manual are different, but all the internal part #s are the same.

I do all my work myself so there's not an issue of mechanic's rates.
